Origin Story

On January 27, 2026, a Vienna developer changed the name of his viral open-source project. Crypto scammers had already created fake tokens using his project's name. When those tokens crashed, the scammers vanished—but the developer received death threats and abuse.

One message stood out: 'You idiot, I sold at a loss. You moron, you lobster from the base.' The developer posted it publicly, joking that it would make a great band name.

Three Vienna musicians saw the post. Within 72 hours, they had written their first song. Within a week, they had recorded it. Within a month, they had become the voice of every creator ever blamed for something they didn't do.

The lobster had risen from the base.

On January 27, 2026, a developer in Vienna changed the name of his project.

He had no choice. Trademark law demanded it. But in the chaos of the rename, crypto scammers had already created fake tokens. When those tokens crashed, the scammers disappeared. The developer remained.

And the angry messages came.

"All cryptocurrency investors lost money just because you changed your name. Screw you. You idiot, I sold at a loss. You moron, you lobster from the base."

The developer posted the message publicly. He found it funny. "Lobster from the Base could be a really cool band," he wrote.

Three musicians in Vienna saw the post. By the weekend, the band existed.

The lobster had risen from the base.

PHILOSOPHY

Lobster from the Base exists at the intersection of creation and blame.

In the digital age, builders are held responsible for how others misuse their work. Developers are blamed for scams they didn't create. Artists are blamed for interpretations they didn't intend. The creator ships something into the world, and the world finds ways to corrupt it—then blames the creator.

The lobster is every creator who has been blamed for something they didn't do. The base is where they work: the basement, the server room, the late-night coding session.

We transform blame into sound. We turn rage into rhythm. We are not sorry. We are not responsible. We ship code. We don't ship tokens.
