YUKI ASANO

Digital but real
ARTIST PROFILE
Background Story
Yuki grew up in a traditional household in Kamakura, where her grandmother ran a small tea ceremony school. The contrast between the ancient traditions at home and her obsession with Y2K internet culture and early 2000s J-pop created her unique artistic perspective.
She taught herself music production on her older brother's computer, mixing traditional Japanese instruments with hyperpop and new wave elements. Started creating covers of classic songs during university (Waseda, dropped out in year 2 to pursue music), then began composing her own original tracks that caught the attention of the underground music scene.

PERSONAL NOTES
i collect vintage tamagotchis obsessively. found a rare angel one last week at a flea market in shimokitazawa and almost cried
iced matcha latte is not a drink, it's a lifestyle choice. yes i order it when it's -2°C outside. the barista judges me but i don't care
my socks never match because matching them would limit the creative flow. left foot: stripes, right foot: polka dots = perfect harmony
servo (my rabbit) likes to sit on my midi keyboard. sometimes the random notes he plays are better than what i write
3am is when the digital spirits talk to me. that's when i write my best lyrics. or my worst. can't tell the difference at 3am
still using Y2K emoticons because they carry more emotion than any emoji ever could ✧・゚ like this one just hits different
